In order to protect the current and future environment, to assess the sustainable effects of the development of the exploitation of Mali’s natural resources on the balance of ecosystems, the Mining Sector Governance Project (PGSM) initiated on the 27th January, a workshop on the strategic environmental and social assessment of the mining sector in Mali. Lassana Guindo, Technical Advisor, in charge of mines at the Department, Hamara Touré, Coordinator of the PGSM, as well as many representatives of mining companies attended.
