Mali : Barrick Gold reaches agreement with government to restart Loulo-Gounkoto mine

Canadian mining giant Barrick Gold has reached a deal with the Malian government to settle a two-year dispute over the 2023 mining code. The agreement includes a $438M (275B CFA) payment in exchange for resuming operations, releasing detained employees, and recovering seized gold. However, last-minute hurdles could delay formal approval.
