Madagascar : President Macron’s visit to strengthen Franco-Malagasy relations

On April 23-24, 2025, French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron will visit Madagascar for an official trip. This marks Emmanuel Macron’s first visit to Antananarivo, as part of an Indian Ocean tour. The main aim is to strengthen ties between France and Madagascar, focusing on economic, environmental, cultural, and military cooperation. Several agreements will be signed, and discussions with Malagasy leaders, including President Andry Rajoelina, are scheduled. The visit will also feature a meeting with the local French community and an Indian Ocean Commission summit.
