Kenya : world’s 3rd largest tea producer after China and India

Tea exports generated $1.2 billion in 2023, up 31% on the $941.4 million achieved in 2022, said Willy Mutai, managing director of the Tea Board (TBK).

According to Mutai, this represents a 16% growth in the volume of tea shipped, to 523,000 tonnes from a previous stock of 450,330 tonnes.

Pakistan remains the main destination for Kenyan tea, absorbing 40% of shipped stock.

Kenya is the world’s 3rd largest tea producer after China and India.
