Kenya : Nairobi airport expansion set to start in 2026

Kenya has unveiled an ambitious plan to upgrade Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with construction expected to begin in 2026.

Confirmed by President William Ruto, the project aims to position Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as a leading regional aviation hub. It includes a new terminal, a second runway and an “Airport City” to ease congestion at the overstretched facility, according to the Kenya Airports Authority.

The government is actively seeking investors and public-private partnerships.
