Kenya: Somalia accuses neighbor of territorial violations
New frictions are resurfacing on the border between Kenya and Somalia. This country again accuses Kenya of territorial violations. The country’s federal government officials said on Monday that they « confirmed » that Kenya had trained and armed fighters from the Jubbaland state government, who then attempted to attack a Somali National Army base in Bulahawo , Gedo, near Mandera County.
After Somali protests to the regional body, accusing Kenya of constant interference, a team, led by Djibouti President Guelleh, had been appointed as the commission of the regional bloc – the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (Igad) . The report presented to Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and Mohamed Farmaajo (Somalia) found Mogadishu’s accusations unjustifiable, saying there was no evidence to prove that Kenya was inciting or supporting Jubbaland forces against the Somali National Army. .
