Kenya : $2.25bn Eurobond issuance to refinance debt and support budget

The Government of Kenya announced on 25 February 2026 the successful pricing of a $2.25 billion Eurobond issuance on international markets, according to an offering circular published on 24 February 2026 by the National Treasury of Kenya.

The dual-tranche transaction comprises $900 million due 2034 and $1.35 billion due 2039, aimed at financing a $500 million debt buyback for bonds maturing in 2028 and 2032 and providing budget support, thereby smoothing the country’s debt maturity profile and reducing refinancing risk. Investor demand has been strong amid improving market conditions.
