Ivory Cost : USD 3 million for biomass power plant using cocoa residues

On June 3, 2025 in Abidjan, the State of Côte d’Ivoire and Climate Fund Managers (CFM) signed an agreement for the financing, to the tune of 1.7 billion FCFA, around 3 million USD, of the cocoa waste-based biomass power plant project in Divo, a commune in the south of the country.

With an annual production capacity of 550 GWh, this plant will supply over 1.4 million people with clean electricity, and avoid 300,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year from 2029.
