According to Afreximbank, intra-African trade fell to $190.9 billion in 2023, accounting for 14.4% of total African trade, down from 14.7% in 2022. Tariff and non-tariff barriers hinder progress under AfCFTA, with Southern Africa contributing the largest share (41.1% of intra-African trade).
