Intellectual property : OAPI and AGF launch $60M fund to support 1,000 innovation patents

On May 6, 2025, the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and the African Guarantee Fund (AGF) launched a $60 million partnership to finance 1,000 innovation projects across 17 African countries by 2030. The initiative aims to convert underused African patents (only 4.11% of global filings) into economic assets through financial guarantees, legal support, and industrial matchmaking.
