Integration: AfCFTA to boost intra-African trade by 40% (ECA)

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is expected to increase intra-African trade by about 40%, with substantial benefits for the transport sectors, according to the latest estimates of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

If fully implemented, the ECA’s price monitoring report indicates that the Zleca will significantly increase traffic flows on all modes of transport: road, rail, maritime and air. Free trade is expected to significantly increase the need for transport equipment for all modes of transport, the report predicts.
