Mauritius: China signs its 1st free trade agreement in Africa

After 3 years of negotiations, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between China and Mauritius entered into force on January 1st. It is the very first of its kind with an African country Note that trade with this country is low: $ 842 million, largely in surplus on the Chinese side, compared to only US $ 37 million in exports to the Middle Kingdom.
