Iheb Triki is a renewable energy and water professional with a wide range of experience in different sectors. He is the co-founder of Kumulus Water, a startup that transforms air into drinking water. It's a particularly salutary initiative given the drought that has hit Tunisia.
His innovation has taken the world by storm. Or at least the front page of the media. In fact, in this global context of worsening drought, another consequence of climate change, it is particularly beneficial. Tunisian Iheb Triki is the co-founder of Kumulus Water, a startup that transforms air into drinking water.
The device, which collects moisture from the air and converts it into drinking water, runs on solar energy and produces between 20 and 30 liters a day. A concrete response to global warming and access to drinking water. « The air enters the machine and passes through an initial filter that cleans it of pollutants. After that, the flow penetrates and condenses the humidity contained in the air », explains the young entrepreneur in a video posted on the company’s Facebook page.
With drought affecting many countries, the startup is attracting a lot of interest. Last October, it closed a new €1 million funding round to expand its activities. The funds, raised from a number of investors, will be used to supply its solar-powered atmospheric water generators.
Following the expansion of its activities in the North African country, Kumulus Water has set its sights on international expansion. With more than 2 billion people worldwide living under water stress, according to the UN, Kumulus has a bright future ahead…
For his part, Iheb Triki, selected in 2021 by the prestigious Choiseul Institute as one of the 100 young African leaders, a graduate of École Polytechnique (France), UC Berkeley (Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering) and HAAS Business School (Certificate in Management of Technology), continues to promote his invention by taking part in various engineering competitions.
