Since 1995, Hicham Lahlou has established himself as a pioneer in design and interior architecture, both in Morocco, across Africa, and on the international stage. His bold creativity and ability to rethink forms and materials have helped redefine the contours of Moroccan and Arab design while positioning the country on the global map of creation.
The exhibition Constellations – Back to the Future, held from October 31 to December 31, 2025, at Galerie Delacroix in Tangier, celebrates thirty years of work where identity, memory, and modernity converge. Each object, project, or collaboration in Lahlou’s universe is conceived as a star in a constellation, symbolizing his transversal approach and his capacity to connect tradition and innovation.

Hicham Lahlou has made Morocco a creative matrix
The exhibition’s graphic design draws inspiration from Moroccan heritage: the clover leaf, transformed into a luminous star, symbolizes the cultural roots of his work while opening perspectives toward the future. The X represented in the exhibition embodies collaboration and the crossing of talents, fundamental values in Lahlou’s creative process.
Sanaa El Younsi, curator of the exhibition, summarizes the significance of his work: “Hicham Lahlou has made Morocco a creative matrix. His design transcends functional objects to become a universal language, a narrative of collective memory, and a bridge between tradition and modernity.”
Among the highlights of the retrospective is Constellation, created with Cheick Diallo and produced by DAUM for the Chalhoub Group in the Middle East, presented for the first time in Morocco. Lahlou also invited three young Moroccan artists to exhibit alongside his work: Selma Lazrak, Amine Asselman, and Hasnae Lahlou, representing the vitality and transmission of the new generations.
Selma Lazrak, architect and designer based in Munich, has been recognized for her creations combining artisanal know-how and contemporary design. Amine Asselman, artist and PhD in contemporary art, explores the geometry of zellige in his works. Hasnae Lahlou, painter and lawyer, develops a vibrant pictorial universe, making color the central vector of her expression.
A constant commitment to innovation, aesthetics, and mentorship
Hicham Lahlou builds his work within this tension between heritage and modernity, local and global influences. For him, design is not merely applied art: it is a language, a tool for intercultural dialogue, and a way to envision the future. His career, highlighted by Wallpaper magazine in summer 2025, illustrates a constant commitment to innovation, aesthetics, and mentorship.
With Constellations – Back to the Future, Lahlou offers a journey through three decades of creation, where the past illuminates the present and inspires the future. The exhibition, part of the J-Lioum cultural season at the French Institute of Morocco, is an invitation to discover rooted, visionary, and deeply human design.
