Guinea : Strategic thermal power plant commissioned for Simandou

Work is intensifying on the massive Simandou mining project. Chinese group Baowu, a key consortium member, has completed and commissioned the first thermal power plant to supply electricity to blocks 1 and 2 of the iron mine, reports EnergyCapital&Power. This milestone is crucial as production is set to begin by the end of 2025. Simandou, one of the largest untapped iron ore deposits globally, will require significantly more energy in the future. A large-scale regional power interconnection is planned to ensure reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
