Guinea : Inauguration of the Transguinean railway and official launch of the Simandou project in Conakry

Guinea today, November 11, 2025, inaugurates the Transguinean railway and officially launches the Simandou iron ore project, one of Africa’s largest mining initiatives. The ceremony, presided over by President Mamadi Doumbouya, takes place in Conakry with the participation of project partners Winning Consortium Simandou, Rio Tinto, SimFer, and Baowu. Highlights include the arrival of the first iron ore trains, the departure of the first export vessel, and a performance by Circus Baobab, marking the beginning of a new era for the nation’s mining and infrastructure development.
