Guinea : $143M US health partnership with the United States to strengthen healthcare

The Republic of Guinea signed a $143 million US memorandum of understanding with the United States government, officially announced on March 1, 2026 by Finance Minister Mariama Ciré Sylla in an official video message. This five‑year programme (2026–2030) under the America First Global Health Strategy of the US State Department is designed to boost health security, accelerate malaria control, achieve permanent polio eradication, modernise laboratory systems and strengthen healthcare workforce capacity in Guinea. Funding comes primarily from the United States with a complementary contribution from Guinea, aiming to enhance national health system resilience against critical public health challenges.
