On May 5, 2025, Morocco’s energy minister Leila Benali confirmed that the UAE will co-finance the $25B Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline. Launched in 2016 by King Mohammed VI and Muhammadu Buhari, the 5,600-km project spans 13 countries to supply gas to Europe. It’s also backed by the EIB, IsDB, and OPEC Fund.
