Food insecurity: IMF extends $80 million loan to Burkina Faso

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has provided Burkina Faso an emergency loan of $80 million to help the 2.6 million acutely food-insecure people in the West African country, a figure that could rise to 3.5 million if nothing is done. The financing will allow for the distribution of food and drinking water, subsidized agricultural inputs and cash transfers to eligible households.
