Floating tidal turbines : the FGEF supports a project on the Congo River

In partnership with the consortium of partners L’Aquaphile, Pot@maï and Aide à l’Enfance, the French Global Environment Facility (FGEF) is supporting a pilot project to test the operation of floating tidal turbines on the Congo River in sub-Saharan Africa. The aim is to supply the village of Loubassa with sustainable energy. The project will validate an economic model for the sale of basic services such as drinking water, cold for food and medicine conservation, and the development of economic activities.

As a reminder, located in the heart of Central Africa, the Congo River is a precious source of non-intermittent energy and drinking water in a continent where 600 million people have no access to electricity.
