A plant capable of processing at least 100 tons of fish per day will soon be created in Tanga, a port city in eastern Tanzania, under a US$10 million public-private partnership (PPP) with the Spanish fishing company Pacific Star, Emmanuel Sweke, Director General of the Deep Sea Fishing Authority (DSFA), announced on February 9. The plant will create 100 jobs.
Tanzania is a country with more than 346,000 km² of fishing waters and almost 3 million tons of fish. The sector provides 210,000 jobs, according to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
