Finance : $3.8B raised by African companies in 2025

In 2025, African companies disclosed $3.8 billion in financing, with deal volume rising 32 % and announced transactions increasing by 8 % compared to the prior year, according to the Africa Investment Report 2025 by Briter Intelligence, published 20 January 2026.
Funding was heavily concentrated among the “Big Four” markets: South Africa (32 %), Kenya (29 %), Egypt (15 %) and Nigeria (8 %), with Nigeria posting its lowest share since 2019 even as it recorded the highest number of deals.
Fintech and digital financial services led both in funding value and deal count, while climate-focused companies drove the fastest growth, especially in solar energy, reflecting investor appetite for infrastructure-style models with predictable cash flows.
