Ethiopia : Dangote signs $2.5 billion deal for a fertilizer plant

On August 28, 2025, Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote signed a $2.5 billion agreement with Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) to build a fertilizer plant in Gode, Somali region. The project, with an annual capacity of 3 million tons, aims to reduce Ethiopia’s fertilizer import dependency and enhance food security. Dangote will hold 60%, EIH 40%.
