Ethiopia : construction resumes on sub-Saharan Africa’s tallest tower in Addis Ababa

On May 21, 2025, Ethiopian Electric Power revived its $445 million headquarters project after a yearlong pause. The 62-story, 327.5-meter skyscraper in Mexico Square will surpass the Commercial Bank Tower as the tallest in sub-Saharan Africa. EEP has launched an international tender for firms with over $230 million in annual revenue to complete the iconic building by 2030.
