In ten months, Ethiopia generated $55 million through bitcoin mining. Attracted by affordable electricity, 25 companies, mainly Chinese, have set up operations with the support of Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), which allocated 600 MW for them. This initiative now places Ethiopia with 2.25% of the global bitcoin mining activity, strengthening its role in the global digital economy.
