On July 18, 2025 Egypt has completed Phase 2 of the Suez canal expansion, increasing daily ship throughput by 35%. Funded through a mix of sovereign investment and Gulf partnerships, the upgrade strengthens Africa’s strategic role in global logistics, transport and maritime trade. The project enhances competitiveness and accelerates infrastructure-led growth in Northern Africa.
