Egypt : Khaled El-Enany appointed new UNESCO Director-General 

On October 6, 2025, the UNESCO Executive Board elected Khaled El-Enany of Egypt as its new Director-General, with 55 votes to 2. Former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, El-Enany becomes the first Egyptian to lead the organization, succeeding Audrey Azoulay.
