Egypt : Expat remittances reached $32.8 Billion

Expat remittances to Egypt soared 69.6% year-on-year from July 2024 to May 2025, totaling $32.8 billion, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced on July 23, 2025. Monthly inflows hit a record $3.4 billion in May alone. The increase reflects Egypt’s intensified efforts to stabilize its forex exchange market and boost foreign reserves. Remittances, alongside tourism, the Suez Canal and FDI, remain a key pillar of Egypt’s foreign currency inflows.
