Egypt : Cairo signs LNG memorandum of understanding with Qatar
On 4 January 2026, Egypt and Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen liquefied natural gas deliveries to the Ain Sokhna and Damietta terminals. According to QatarEnergy, the framework allows for up to 24 LNG cargoes to be supplied during the summer period. The move aims to secure energy supply amid declining domestic gas output and rising electricity demand.
