Egypt: Agreements signed for 5.2 GW of renewable energy capacity
At COP29 in Baku, Egypt signed two memoranda of understanding for 5.2 GW of renewable energy. The first agreement, with UAE’s TAQA and France’s Voltalia, involves a 3.2 GW project, featuring 2.1 GW solar and 1.1 GW wind, slated for 2028 near Cairo. The second deal with Alcazar Energy focuses on a 2 GW wind project. These steps align with Egypt’s energy transition goals.
