Egypt : $1B invested in Upper Egypt local development, World Bank-backed

On May 27, 2025, Minister Manal Awad highlighted in Sharm El-Sheikh the achievements of the Upper Egypt Local Development Programme, launched in 2018 with World Bank support. With over $1B invested, the initiative has delivered 6,000 projects, improving infrastructure and services for 8.2 million people across four governorates, while supporting 72,000 businesses and enhancing decentralisation.
