Egypt : $11 billion in FDI in 2025, Africa’s leading destination

In a report published in January 2026, UNCTAD confirmed that Egypt attracted $11 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, ranking as Africa’s top FDI destination for the fourth consecutive year. Despite uneven investment flows across the continent, Egypt maintained its lead, driven by projects in energy, infrastructure and industry. The report also highlights the continued geographic concentration of FDI in Africa, with a limited number of economies capturing the majority of inflows.
