Egypt  : $1.8B renewable energy deals signed

Egypt has signed renewable energy contracts worth a combined $1.8 billion in 2026 to boost its shift toward clean power. Among the key agreements, Norwegian developer Scatec will build a solar power plant and energy storage facilities in Upper Egypt’s Minya region, and Chinese firm Sungrow will also participate in parts of the program. The Egyptian government aims to increase renewables to 42 % of its electricity mix by 2030, a target seen as ambitious and dependent on further international support.
