Education : former Namibian First Lady Monica Geingos appointed First Chancellor of Kepler College
Kepler College in Kigali takes a major step forward with the appointment of Monica Geingos, former First Lady of Namibia, as its inaugural Chancellor. This appointment ushers in a new era for the institution, promising inspiring leadership and a strengthened commitment to Africa's economic and social development.

Kepler College in Kigali, Rwanda, has announced on August 19 2024 a significant leadership change with the appointment of Monica Geingos, former First Lady of Namibia, as its inaugural Chancellor. This historic appointment, effective from July 29, 2024, is set to usher in a new chapter for the institution, known for its commitment to innovative education.
Monica Geingos, who previously served as the First Lady of Namibia from March 2015 to February 2024, brings a diverse range of experiences to her new role. An accomplished lawyer and former Managing Director of Namibia’s largest private equity fund, Geingos has a strong track record in both the private and public sectors. Her recent work as President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and her advocacy for gender equity through the #WeAreEqual campaign underscore her dedication to societal progress.

By creating a dynamic learning environment that bridges academic excellence with real-world application, we aim to ignite a generation of Pan African innovators and leaders who will drive meaningful progress,” said Chancellor Geingos.

Her leadership extends beyond her professional achievements. Geingos has served as a co-chair of the Global Council on Inequality, AIDS, and Pandemics, and as Chairperson of the Africa REACH Leadership Council. Her efforts in advocating for gender equity and economic inclusivity have earned her global recognition, including the ‘World Without AIDS Award’ from the German AIDS Foundation and an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy from Jharkhand Rai University.
At Kepler College, Geingos will preside over convocation ceremonies, confer degrees, and represent the institution within and beyond the academic community. Her appointment is expected to significantly enrich the college’s academic culture and reinforce its commitment to excellence and inclusivity.

Kepler College is dedicated to equipping young Africans with the skills and mindset required to tackle local challenges on a global scale. Its innovative, competency-based education model offers high-quality, affordable, and employment-focused higher education, bridging management and technology. The college provides Bachelor’s degrees in Project Management and Business Analytics and offers professional development courses designed to prepare students for the 21st-century workforce. Partnering with Southern New Hampshire University, Kepler College has enrolled over 2,500 students in Kigali and the Kiziba refugee camp in Rwanda.
