The East African Community (EAC) region recorded a GDP growth of 4.5% in 2022. This was announced on March 18, 2023 at the end of a meeting of central bank governors of EAC member states held on March 17, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
According to the governors, this performance was underpinned by strong growth in industry and services. This was due to the easing of COVID-19-related restrictions and global supply chain constraints, as well as continued public investment.
