The transboundary water supply project between Ethiopia and Djibouti is expanding its capacity to 100,000 m3/day to alleviate population needs. Chinese company CGCOC is leading the extension works. Since 2017, this aqueduct, one of Africa’s largest, pumps water from 28 wells in Ethiopia to Djibouti. This free resource for 30 years mitigates water stress in a semi-arid country.
