On 31 August 2025, the DRC announced a $400M satellite project with Monacosat to expand high-speed internet access, enhance cybersecurity, and support telemedicine and distance learning, especially in rural areas. Led by President Félix Tshisekedi, the initiative involves Ministers Augustin Kibasa and José Mpanda Kabangu and is part of the national digital plan Horizon 2025.
