For the construction of the new deep water port of Banana, the DRC will release a sum of 30 billion Congolese francs (nearly 12 million USD) as a contribution. At the current stage, the site is in the work phase consisting of the construction of 2 transversals of a 1543 meter dike. The first is in the final phase, while the second transversal must await the demolition of some surrounding concessions. This first phase, which will require 350 million USD of investment, consists in particular of building a 600 m quay and 25 hectares of storage space, for an annual capacity of 322,000 containers.
