Digital: Smart Africa appoints new leadership and expands to 42 countries
At its 8th Council of ICT Ministers meeting held on March 24, 2025 in Kigali, Smart Africa gathered representatives from 19 countries, including 13 ministers. Tatenda Mavetera was elected Chair for a two-year term, alongside Djibril Ouattara as Vice Chair, succeeding Léon Juste Ibombo and Samuel Nartey George. The Alliance now includes 42 member states following six new accessions. No financial figures were disclosed. The initiative aims to accelerate Africa’s single digital market.
