Demography : India passes China to become the most populous country in the world
According to estimates published this Wednesday by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the population of the subcontinent will reach 1.4286 billion by mid-2023, surpassing China’s population, estimated at 1.4257 billion, by three million.
India’s population is growing at less than 1%, which still means more than 12 million additional Indians every year.
