Growth: Djibouti, Kenya, Tunisia, Rwanda and Botswana champions in 2021 (World Bank)
Djibouti and Kenya should be the champions of growth on the continent in 2021 according to World Bank projections, with 7.1% and 6.9% respectively. They are followed by Tunisia (5.8%) which is emerging from a severe recession which stands at -9.1% according to the latest estimates. Rwanda and Botswana, which also recorded contractions in their economies in 2020 (with in the order of -0.2% and -9.1%) are each expected to experience growth of 5.7% this year. In total, 47 African countries are expected to experience a certain rebound in economic activity in 2021, with different rates, however. On the other hand, three other countries of the continent should still be in recession this year (Congo, Equatorial Guinea and South Sudan).
