After a six-week surge, the fourth pandemic wave in Africa, fuelled mainly by the Omicron variant, is stabilising, marking the shortest outbreak to date on the continent where cumulative cases have now exceeded 10 million infections, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa announced on 13 January.
