COP 28 : $175 million for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa (AGIA)

At COP 28, African and global institutions, as well as the German, French and Japanese governments and philanthropic organizations, sent a powerful signal of support by pledging over $175 million to the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa (AGIA). This historic initial commitment will help to rapidly scale up financing for transformative climate-friendly infrastructure projects across the continent.

The Alliance is a partnership between the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, Africa50 and other partners. It aims to unlock up to ten billion dollars of private capital for green infrastructure projects and stimulate global action to accelerate Africa’s just and equitable transition to net zero CO2 emissions.
