Cameroon : the State creates a framework for the negotiation of mining conventions

On June 9, 2025, Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, signed a decree on the organization and operation of the Mining Conventions Negotiation Framework responsible for “ensuring the feasibility, viability and profitability of mining projects; ensuring the compliance of mining conventions with the provisions of the Mining Code, legislation and regulations in force; guaranteeing the protection of the State’s economic and social interests, and negotiating rates favorable to the State within the framework of production sharing provided for by law”.
