Cameroon : Kribi Port Industrial Zone launched to boost industrialisation
The Kribi Port Industrial Zone (KPIZ) was officially inaugurated on February 26, 2026 in Yaoundé as the project company to develop a 4,000‑hectare integrated industrial zone adjacent to the deep‑water Port of Kribi, a key logistical hub in Central Africa. The overall investment is estimated at €795 million (about $864 million) and brings together the Port autonome de Kribi, Africa Global Logistics, Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms and Belmont Investments LTD to strengthen local value addition by siting production close to export facilities. The initiative aligns with the national industrialisation roadmap and has been supported with public financing and technical assistance by the African Development Bank Group.
Official projections suggest KPIZ could create up to 150,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2040 and host priority sectors such as agro‑industry, metallurgy, wood processing and construction materials, positioning Cameroon as a competitive industrial and export hub.
