Cameroon : EU allocates €59 million for rural electrification

On September 27, 2025, at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU will mobilize €545 million (357.4 billion FCFA) to support Africa’s clean energy transition. Cameroon will receive €59 million (38.7 billion FCFA) to electrify 687 rural communities, providing power to over 2.5 million citizens and boosting local socio-economic development.
