On June 20, 2025, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced the immediate release of an additional $32.8 million to Burkina Faso, as part of its broader $305 million aid program approved in September 2023. With this new installment, the total amount disbursed to the country now stands at $131.3 million. The aid aims to bolster the country’s resilience to economic shocks, reduce poverty, and support structural reforms, despite ongoing security challenges and disruptions in the gold sector caused by violence.
