The Essakane gold mine produced 480,000 ounces in 2022, Lamgold announced on January 17, 2023. The Canadian company, which owns 90% of the project (with 10% going to the Burkinabe government), said « this performance is slightly above expectations. The 5% year-on-year increase is justified by the high gold grades of the ore mined in 2022.”
This performance is the result of securing the Essakane deposit, which started commercial production in July 2010.
