Botswana : Partnership with De Beers extended until 2054

Botswana and De Beers have finalized a new rough diamond sales agreement and extended the mining licenses of their joint venture, Debswana, until 2054. Currently, 75% of Debswana’s production is sold to De Beers. A provisional 2023 agreement aims to gradually increase Botswana’s share to 50%. As the world’s leading diamond producer by value, the country heavily relies on this sector for national revenue.
