Botswana : $304 million AfDB loan to boost budget stability and reforms

On June 1, 2025, the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a $304 million loan to help Botswana reduce its fiscal deficit (6.7% of GDP) and support reforms in governance and the economy. The GERSP program, funded for the 2025/26 fiscal year, comes amid falling diamond revenues and a 2024 economic contraction.
